CMAAO Assembly 2025

It is a great honour for me to be asked to contribute a short message to the 39th General Assembly and 60th Council Meeting of the Confederation of Medical Associations in Asia and Oceania (CMAAO). The World Medical Association (WMA) values its close relationship with CMAAO, and the active role that the member associations play in the Council and General Assembly of the WMA. I would like to congratulate the Nepal Medical Association for successfully organising this year’s meeting. I know that memories of recent floods have weighed heavily on deciding the time and place of the meeting. I am glad that everything has worked out well.

The deliberations and decisions of CMAAO are often of interest and assistance to the WMA. I am sure your discussions on disaster preparedness, management and response will be immensely useful in the future.

Allow me to felicitate my friend Dra. Maria Minerva P. Calimag on a successful term as President of CMAAO. I would also like to wish the incoming President, Dr. Anil Bikram Karki all the best for his term. Though I am unfortunately unable to join you in person at this meeting, I am sure we will all meet soon.
